ABOUT THE 2017 FESTIVAL
The inspiration for the Film Festival came out of September 2016's popular 9-day neighborhood-wide arts festival, Art Slope ‘16, which featured the work of over 150 artists from across all disciplines in more than 50 venues, including 9 large installations in Prospect Park and a shorts screening curated by Bill Schaumberg.

Bill Schaumberg's screening led to the inaugural Art Slope '17 - Shorts in the Slope short film festival, which took place over October 13-14 at the Berkeley Carroll School's state-of-the-art theater. The Arts Committee reviewed over 90 short film submissions form around the world and featured a festival line up of 30 films, with subject matter ranging from narrative, documentary, animations, humor and horror. (Please see below for a listing of the winning short films - and go to artslope.nyc for the complete festival lineup, as well as photographs from the screenings and closing party/awards ceremony at Shapeshifter Lab in nearby Gowanus, Brooklyn.)
